Works on Paper
Topographical Series
Topographical Series was created using gouache and embroidery thread on paper to intentionally express the separate and collective journeys of women.

The linear pattern replicates a map or the topography of their journeys and their ability to transform and move from one state to another, from one environment to another, through their adaptive responses to life’s complexities.

Meditation Series
Meditation Series was created using gouache and embroidery thread on paper to reflect my insights of women, spirituality and art as a meditative, intuitive experience wherein time and space are dimensionless.

Art is curative, a catalyst, a way to gain focus, awareness, spiritual enlightenment, a path to peace, and a means of stepping out of the chaos of the moment into stillness and calm.

8 Views of A Woman Series
Eight Views of A Woman was sewn, using silk and embroidery threads, onto monotypes printed on handmade paper that then were ultimately sewn with embroidery thread onto rag paper.

The process of sitting in the evening falling into a metaphorical reverie stitching silk thread in a repetitive, consistent pattern allowed me to experience what has often been called “women’s work,” sewing, embroidering, etc.

The eight pieces tell a story of significant events in a woman’s life, marriage, joy, passion, birth of children, sadness, aging, and death with the underlying theme of transformation from one event to another.
